Okay time to
introduce myself since there always seems to be a rumor or
two floating around in my regard, let’s set the record
straight, shall we?
If there is anything you should know about me, it’s that I’m
an open book!!! I share my emotions freely with hopes I
offend no one – well, unless they offend first, then it’s
fair play, right? ;-)
My given name is “Mary Ellen Hammack”, I go by
“Mary Ellen”, but tis okay that most of y’all know me or
refer to me as “Mellen”.
Um, I’m a road running free spirit!! I ADORE road trips;
simply cannot get enough of traveling and stopping at
historical sites at every turn!
I’m a brutally honest, silly, sincere, caring,
unique, and
genuine human being who always sees the best in people
until they prove me with a reason to otherwise…. and by
then, it’s too late, I’m also unforgiving, sigh.
I refuse to back-down to bullies, rude people, obnoxious,
hypocritical users, thieves, and liars!
D’oh, obviously, I’m witty, sometimes
I’m too smart for my own britches!
I’m terrible with names but never forget a face.
I’m a hopeless romantic, who adores candles, music,
meditating, dancing, singing, the color pink, old Hollywood,
and writing.
I love learning new things, sharing with others what I’ve
learned, and oddly have an internal instinct for law (which
makes my 4.0 GPA an easy accomplishment).
Um, I’m VERY opinionated yet open-minded.
I’m an enigma too, in case you haven’t already figured that
one out.
I adore this planet. I never litter. I cannot even
pick a flower.
I’m also the very proud, full-time mommy of two
exceptionally
smart and gorgeous boys and it’d be no surprise to find me
at one of their schools volunteering or teaching.
I’m also a devoted & doting wife of
almost 2-decades, my BIGGEST
accomplishment thus far! *w*
I am the youngest of my family; aside from me, I still have
my mom and brothers to embrace. My beloved sister, Roxanne
Kolvet-Hutchings, passed away this past summer (7/6/7) and
my father, Robert Kolvet, passed away in June of 1970.
Despite I get my “gypsy blood”
honestly, it was in a town called Brownsburg where my mom
finally settled and we planted roots. I graduated high
school probably before you were born and have dabbled in
college ever since where I’ve studied a variety-of-subjects
ranging from elementary education, criminal justice, and
criminal law; and I have the intention of looking into a
creative writing class soon. |
Yep you
guessed it! I’m planning on penning some books before my
time is up on this fine planet. Most will involve the
paranormal as I’ve been fascinated by it and studied it ever
since I was a VERY young girl. I believe by my being so
young and open-minded, well it allowed me to develop a knack
for intuitively & acute sensitivity; which isn't always a
good thing but I've learned to live with it. So tis no
surprise that I'm unsure as to who is drawn to whom more; me
to the paranormal - or - the paranormal toward me! All I
know is, those who have investigated beside me over the
years brag about the great data they obtain and the stuff
that occurs while I’m in the room. Coincidence? Maybe. But
when you factor in their EVP calling out over & over to me
by name, hmmm, makes one wonder, "what if".
*she humbly states*
I've been told by many "sensitive" individuals that I was
born prematurely due to an act of God's. I'm an "indigo
child", so to speak, who is naturally "ordained", as
I was told to me by SEVERAL elders a Spiritual encampment;
due to my birthdate (11/1/66) AND that that's a VERY rare
year to be born, tis what's to be by God so I TRULY believe
it's true and I've a "duty" assigned to me by Him; one I'm
plan on fulfilling to the best of my abilities! :-)
Paranormally speaking, as an outlet to
sate my ‘insatiable’ appetite for the paranormal, well over
five years ago I joined and helped form an Indiana ghost
tracking group's Indianapolis Chapter. For years I paid my
dues, both literally and figuratively, by assuming
the role and title of Chapter Secretary and well as Chapter
Director, not once, not twice, but three times over yet due
to personal differences I chose to not assume the titles
offered to me including regional, corporate, and executive.
My devotion and ambitiousness earned me multiple chapter,
state, and executive awards & accolades during my tenure.
Two years ago March, I resigned entirely, leaving me an
ex-paranormal groupie, now I’m “Mz. Independent” and luvin’
every minute of it!
During that “group” era of my life, I
was responsible for maintaining all assets of the chapter,
training fellow chapter members in the basic “arts” of ghost
hunting, coordinating and overseeing MULTIPLE fundraising
events to not only promote paranormal awareness and the
group but also to generate funds to save an ol’ building or
two, planning dozens-upon-dozens of meetings, hunts,
investigations, and statewide & public training sessions.
And yep, I’ve done a few public
relation stints along-the-way, although they've JUST
begun (um, that's a secret little hint there, btw).
Some of my more prominent past PR ops included interviews in
venues such as local television shows, several radio stints,
innumerable newsprint articles and I appeared briefly in the
group’s sleeper VHS para-documentary entitled, “Mystic
Indiana”. |
However, it
was in the Fall of 2006, while attending a paranormal
conference in Louisville, Kentucky, when my paranormal
public relations took an about-face and branched out beyond
even my dreams. I caught the tail-end of a talk given by two
Sci-Fi producers who were announcing their plans to start on
a journey to film a state-of-the-art para-documentary, one
like none before it. We talked and it was no time before the
producers contacted me, asking me to appear in their latest
paranormal documentary which was released on DVD mid-October
2007 aptly entitled, ”Children of the Grave”;
which is scheduled to air on Sci-Fi 05/07/08 at 9/8c &
05/28/08 at 2/1c. With sincerity I believe fate led the
three of us to meet that day for these two talented
gentlemen and I were able to immortalize the lives of 699
precious
young lost souls who almost went completely forgotten. To
those fine men, I am forever in their debt; I was truly
honored to have partaken in the filming!
As many of you already know, I simply ADORE patronizing
paranormal conventions, fundraising events, conventions,
conferences, picnics, and expositions. Because of my
diligence to unify the paranormal “industry”, by helping
others and awakening the general public that the paranormal
is not going away and isn’t something to fear, my popularity
here on MySpace has SKY ROCKETED! Some refer to me as
a Paranormal Celebrity but I don’t feel any more
special than the ‘other’ guy. Quite the contrary, tis I
who simply adores each & every one of you!
I spend a lot of time online answering your emails
and giving advice to those seeking confidential assistance
with personal hauntings &/or other personal issues. So if
you’re in need, or need referral to a local group you can
rely upon as professional, you’ve come to the right gal,
shoot me an email! If I cannot assist you, I can point you
into a direction of someone who can.
And as clichéd as this may sound, yep, I ask nothing in
return. Why? Well I’m truly as sweet as my nickname implies
and those who speak otherwise about me need to shoot me an
email for you’re obvious a confused individual. No, I’m not
a narcissist either, I’m simply proud of who I’ve grown to
become. I always treat others as I’d prefer to be
treated by them as I firmly believe in karma and whatever
you bestow upon others comes back upon you 10-fold.
Remember, I always see the good in people until they
provide me with reason to otherwise.
Thank you for visiting my profile! Remember, visit again
soon – my profile look will change more often now and oh,
don’t forget how excited I am to change my songs as often as
the mood hits me! :-)
Hugs & happy hunting …
Mellen |
